Dao Tran-Boyd
Kundalini Yoga Instructor | Sound Healing Therapist | Life Coach
Sharing Kundalini yoga, meditation teachings and sound therapy is my calling and life’s passion.
In 1973, my family moved to London for my father’s work. We were intended to stay for four years, whilst my father served a diplomatic term for the Vietnam embassy. In 1975, Saigon fell and prevented our return. I lost one home and gained another.
I began my career in futures trading in the 80s, navigating this demanding industry at a time when female representation in the city was low. Subsequently, I founded, and successfully ran, two businesses whilst my three children were young. Despite this varied career, it is the teaching of Kundalini yoga, meditation and sound therapy work, which has given me the most job satisfaction. This is my passion and life’s calling.
I have practised numerous styles of yoga (Kundalini, Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar) for over twenty-five years. It is, however, Kundalini yoga which has impacted me the most, and to which I feel most connected.
I first encountered Kundalini Yoga in California six years ago. The circumstances were difficult as I was visiting my father who had had a sudden heart attack. In the midst of this stressful time, I stumbled upon Kundalini yoga, although nothing happens by accident! Since then, this yogic practice has transformed my way of thinking, being and existing, and has brought about a profound shift in my yogic practice. Take this with a pinch of salt, but Russell Brand describes Kundalini in his book as the “natural cocaine”.
Kundalini yoga has taught me about meditation, breath work, the power of mantras, energy, vibrations and sound. This inspired me to train as a gong master, and I now have a deepened understanding of the immense power of the sound from the gong: it has a healing capacity for both mind and body.
In a world as busy and disconnected as ours, I am honoured and humbled to hold space for people to experience Kundalini yoga, sound therapy, gong baths and meditation.
Let’s work together so that you can take a breath, and find calm in the chaos.
